Beatles Green-Light New Concert Film Using Fan Footage
A new Beatles concert film comprising fan-shot footage is in the works, with the band’s Apple Corps giving the production company OVOW the go-ahead to start searching for amateur- or professional-shot clips of the group during their tours in the 1960s, The Wrap reports.
The film is titled The Beatles Live!, and along with concert footage will also include images, music, interviews and stories that document the 250 shows the Beatles played in 116 cities between October 1963 and August 1966.
Efforts to start tracking down video kicked off this morning, with OVOW assembling worldwide research teams and developing new social media tools. The company will also receive assistance from archivists, collectors, Beatles fan clubs, film restoration-experts, academics and writers. (OVOW stands for “One Voice One World,” a reference to the Beatles’ final live show in the “Our World” satellite broadcast on June 25th, 1967.)
On the film’s website, fans will be able to get news about the project, and also upload their own footage directly through the end of the year.
