Barry White Suffers Stroke

Daughter says singer is in good spirits

According to his daughter, singer Barry White is in good spirits as he continues his recovery from a stroke that affected his speech and the right side of his body.

The fifty-eight-year-old soul icon suffered the stroke earlier this month while waiting for a kidney transplant necessitated by years of chronic high blood pressure. In 1999, White had to cancel several tour dates in support of his most recent album, the Grammy-winning Staying Power, when he was hospitalized as a result of the condition.

Before he can go through with the kidney transplant, White’s condition needs to stabilize.

Still, his daughter calls the stroke a minor setback, and says her father will perform again.
