Baauer Won’t Stop on Relentless, Clanging ‘GoGo!’

New track received festival spins this summer from Hudson Mohawke, Rustie, RL Grime

Baauer has continued his post-“Harlem Shake” tear with a monstrous, diabolically concussive new single, “GoGo!” which premiered Tuesday on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show.

The instrumental track is an exercise in relentless production, built around a steady, spitfire stream of percussion — hand claps, hi-hat flurries, eardrum-rattling kicks and snares — that pulses against a staggering, guttural synth riff. A short vocal sample flits about as the song builds and drops, adding a touch of soulfulness to the wobbling, maxed-out track.

Though Baauer hadn’t officially released “GoGo!” until today, it was a festival staple this summer for a number of likeminded artists including Hudson Mohawke, Rustie and RL Grime. The track marks Baauer’s first single since “One Touch,” featuring AlunaGeorge and Rae Sremmurd. That song appeared on the DJ/producer’s 2014 EP, ß, which was released via LuckyMe.

Baauer is set to hit the road this fall, with dates planned across the globe. He’ll kick off an Australian and New Zealand trek on October 23rd, tour Europe and the U.K. through November and then launch a North American leg on December 10th at Ritual in Ottawa, Canada. A complete list of dates is available on his Facebook page.
