Avett Brothers Pay Tribute to Brooklyn on ‘Kimmel’
Crowd erupts over band's performance of 'I and Love and You'
The Avett Brothers offered an emotional tribute to Brooklyn last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, straying from their latest album, The Carpenter, to perform "I and Love and You," the title track from their 2009 album. "I asked them to do it for reasons you will soon understand," Kimmel said in introducing the band, backed by the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra, as part of a week of taping in New York. Yup: the crowd goes nuts the first time the band hits the refrain, cheering wildly at the line "Brooklyn, Brooklyn, take me in."
