At the Drive-In Reunite in Austin

At the Drive-In, the post-hardcore outfit from El Paso that gave rise to The Mars Volta, Sparta, and the solo career of Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, reunited for the first time in 11 years last night at the Austin, TX venue Red 7. The show was the first of a handful of dates that will lead the band to Indio, CA for Coachella this weekend.
Here’s a play-by-play of At the Drive-In’s return, from the pre-show excitement to the last ovation…

What does it say about your bar when two of your owners are going apeshit during At the Drive-In

@lerosier9 They sound damn good for a band that has had an eleven year layoff. Have hunch they’ll be back in ATX for FFFFest. #ATDI

#atdi get two ovations. One from the crowd inside, one from the alley kids around the van! A Hard Days Night style! #warmupformarfa

We made it back, battle scars aplenty, from @AtTheDriveIn at @Red_7. Better than I could’ve possibly imagined. @zechsband also ripped. #ATDI
