See the 100 Greatest Debut Albums of All Time
One of the most hyped bands of the new millennium, Arctic Monkeys burst onto the scene with their 2006 debut, Whatever People Say I Am That’s What I’m Not. The English quartet released their fifth album, AM, on September 6th, 2013. The record marked a significant change in style, one frontman Alex Turner described to Rolling Stone as, “almost like the Spiders From Mars covering Aaliyah. There’s like a shimmery, intergalactic, slightly cosmic element to the way both those genres make me feel.”

The band split recording time between studios in Los Angeles and Joshua Tree, California, and AM debuted atop the U.K. albums charts – just like the band’s past four efforts. The record was also recently shortlisted for this year’s Barclaycard Mercury Prize, and you can watch a new clip for the AM cut “One for the Road” here.
