Island Records has bumped up the release date of Angel Haze’s debut Dirty Gold to December 30th, the rapper tweeted. Yesterday Haze leaked the record to protest her label’s not following through on their promise to get it out by the end of the year.

“Behind every rebel is a fucking reason,” Haze wrote on Twitter, before thanking her fans for their support. “My labels didn’t think that I would do it, but I did,” she continued. “It’s hard to put at risk everything I’ve spent this year working on but I had to for both me and you guys. No one should ever be afforded the opportunity to fuck with your dreams. REGARDLESS OF WHO THEY ARE. They do not own you or your faith or your future and because of what you guys helped me show them.”

Dirty Gold was initially slated for a January 2014 release, though Island later pushed it back to March 3rd. In a string of tweets preceding the leak, Haze claimed that Island/Republic promised to release the record by the end of 2013 as long as the rapper turned it in before the summer.

“I don’t care what happens after this,” she said at the time. [The fans] will get the music they were promised. And you guys [the label] just may learn to keep your fucking word.”

Last month, Haze spoke to Rolling Stone about finally getting the masters for Dirty Gold and how eager she was for fans to finally hear it: “I’m so excited because it’s actually happening and that’s surreal for me. Fuck, I don’t even feel it completely until the day the album comes out and I just die. It’ll be an overload of emotions.”
