Amy Winehouse‘s father has revealed plans to create a foundation in his daughter’s name to give help to those struggling with addiction. Speaking at the singer’s funeral yesterday, Mitch Winehouse announced his intention to lend a hand to addicts and lamented that those who cannot afford a private rehab clinic need to wait on a two-year waiting list to get help. The British charity DrugScope later challenged Winehouse’s claim, stating that 94 percent of patients receive some form of treatment within three weeks.

At the service, Winehouse said that his daughter had “conquered” her drug addiction but but was still dealing with alcoholism at the time of her death. According to Winehouse, she had just recently “completed three weeks of abstinence” and had told him that she intended to get sober, saying “Dad, I’ve had enough, I can’t stand the look on your and the family’s faces anymore.”
