UPDATE (3/24): The group has postponed their four remaining Beacon Theatre performances on March 25th, 26th, 28th and 29th while Allman recovers from bronchitis. The band said in a statement, “As a result of Mr. Allman’s illness, the Allman Brothers Band is unable to perform at the level to which they aspire. All ticketholders should retain their tickets, which will be honored for the soon-to-be-announced rescheduled engagements. Those ticket holders desiring refunds may obtain them from the original point of purchase.”

Gregg Allman was forced to skip two of the Allman Brothers Band shows at New York’s Beacon Theatre this weekend after coming down with bronchitis. The band posted several notes on Facebook providing updates on the singer and keyboardist’s illness, which kept him home on Friday and Saturday night, and requested that fans send “healing vibes his way.”

The band is currently celebrating its 45th anniversary and has played more than 220 shows at the Beacon since 1989. Despite the singer’s absence, the rest of the band went on with the show on Friday and Saturday nights. reports that Susan Tedeschi, keyboardists Kofi Burbridge of Tedeschi Trucks band and Rob Barraco of Dark Star Orchestra, saxophonist Bill Evans and Allman’s son Devon all filled in on the missing parts.

A note posted to the Facebook page on Sunday offered a cautiously optimistic forecast for the remaining Beacon run: “No guarantees but Gregg is improving and hopes to return to the stage for the last four Beacon shows.”
