AFI Confront Their Chaos in ‘No Resurrection’ – Song Premiere

It’s been over four years since goth-rockers AFI have released an album, and with good reason: according to vocalist Davey Havok, “During the writing sessions, there was a lot of chaos in my life.” Burials, out October 22nd, finds the band back to form, stacking layers of sound until they merge together in one loud, sleek barrage.

Now you can check out “No Resurrection” from the album, in which Havok calls out, “I wanted to save you!” over siren riffs and massive drums. The song doesn’t have a happy ending, but that suits the band’s goals, as Havok explains to Rolling Stone. “It was a real struggle. We revisited the chorus several times; we could not abandon it,” he says. “We felt the haunting song was important. The best doesn’t always come quickly. Heaven is slow.”
