Aerosmith’s Joe Perry Injured in Motorcycle Crash

Band hobbles towards hometown concert at Fenway Park

Aerosmith‘s Joe Perry was hospitalized after a minor motorcycle accident yesterday. According to the Patriot Ledger, the guitarist was driving his Ducati Monster near his Duxbury, Massachusetts home when he was rear-ended by a 62-year-old woman driving a Chevy Malibu on Route 44. Perry was not found to blame in the accident, and the other driver, Linda O’Brien, was charged with following too closely.

Perry was admitted to Morton Hospital and Medical Center for treatment, but was quickly discharged with only minor injuries. The band’s publicist, Liz Rosenberg, told the Boston Globe, “Joe is home and he’s fine. All’s well and we’re all grateful.”

As Rolling Stone recently reported, Aerosmith are set to embark on their “Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock” tour next week, which includes an August 14th homecoming show at Fenway Park. The band’s members have been the victims of multiple accidents and mishaps in the past 12 months. Last year’s tour was marked by setback after setback, as guitarist Brad Whitford missed shows due to a head injury, bassist Tom Hamilton sat out dates following surgery, and Tyler pulled a leg muscle. The tour was eventually cancelled after Tyler fell off of a stage in South Dakota and broke his shoulder. That cancellation was largely to blame for Perry and Tyler’s recent icy relationship. It does not appear that Perry’s motorcycle accident will affect the upcoming tour.
