Aerosmith have postponed their show tonight in Bristow, Virginia as frontman Steven Tyler is under doctor’s orders “to refrain from performing to provide vocal rest,” as the group wrote on their Facebook page.

The show at Jiffy Lube Live has been rescheduled for August 12th, with all tickets purchased for the July 3rd date to be honored. With no word on how long Tyler will be sidelined, he will presumably be ready for Aerosmith’s next show in Detroit on July 5th. “Aerosmith regrets any inconvenience and looks forward to returning to Jiffy Lube Live,” the statement added.

Tyler’s rest comes just five shows in to Aerosmith’s current Global Warming Tour, which finds them trekking across North America all summer with openers Cheap Trick in support of the Boston band’s upcoming new record, Music From Another Dimension.

The album – which will be the group’s first since 2001’s Just Push Play – was set to hit shelves on August 28th, but as Tyler revealed in a radio interview the date has been pushed back to November 6th.

“It’s pushed back because too many people are releasing those weeks, and we don’t want to step on their release dates,” said Tyler. “So we said, ‘You know what, we got the goods, ain’t no doubt about [it], we’ll wait a couple months.'”

Aerosmith performed the record’s first single, “Legendary Child,” during the season finale of American Idol, though the track was unable to gain much traction on the Billboard or iTunes charts. According to Tyler, Sony will release two more singles before the album is released, one of which could possibly be “Oh Yeah,” which the group debuted at their Global Warming kickoff show in Minneapolis.
