50 Cent Gets Boxing Promoter’s License in Las Vegas

Ever the entrepreneur, rapper 50 Cent secured approval last week for a boxing promotor’s license, The Associated Press reports.
The rapper’s company, SMS Promotions, will host its first bout December 8th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas between Yuriokis Gamboa, a Cuban-born Miami-based fighter, and an opponent yet to be named.
Back in July, 50 Cent was in talks with boxing champ Floyd Mayweather Jr. to become his promotor (even going so far as to get in a tiff with Mayweather rival Oscar De La Hoya on Twitter). While applying for his license, however, 50 Cent told the Nevada Athletic Commission that the plans to form TMT Promotions fell through, and the business was absorbed by SMS.
