50 Cent, Coldplay to Play VMAs
50 Cent and Christina Aguilera have both added an extra date to
busy summer tour schedules — a stop in New York for the 2003 MTV
Video Music Awards. Good Charlotte and Coldplay are also set to
perform at the August 28th awards show.
50 may be appearing on the Radio City Music Hall stage more than
once that evening — he is up for five awards, including Video of
the Year for “In da Club.” Coldplay and Good Charlotte received
three nominations each for “The Scientist” and “Lifestyles of the
Rich and Famous.” Missy Elliott garnered the most nominations —
eight — for “Work It,” trumping Justin Timberlake’s seven for “Cry
Me a River” and “Rock Your Body.”
Presenting the awards will be an assortment of music, television
and sport celebrities, including P. Diddy, Ashanti, Kelly Clarkson
and Tony Hawk. Also slated to present are Ludacris, Hilary Duff,
Jackass‘s Bam Margera, Redman, Evanescence, David Spade,
Snoop Dogg, hoops star LeBron James and Mary-Kate and Ashley
Olsen.
Comedian Chris Rock will be making his third appearance as host
the evening’s ceremonies. MTV will broadcast the annual event, now
in its twentieth year, live at 8 p.m (ET).
