On Saturday, Kaskade made history. The beloved Chicago house DJ not only played the biggest solo show of his career at the Los Angeles Convention Center, attended by around 20,000 fans; the gig was also the first EDM event in the venue's history. "Best show of my life," he tweeted on Monday. The performance capped a big week for the DJ, who had also launched his own pop-up store just days before. Rolling Stone's photographer followed Kaskade from his appearance at the shop through the end of the massive show. See our photos and read the artist's own commentary on what went down.

Masks

Everyone on my team thought these masks we gave away at the Pop Up Shop were hysterical but mostly they gave me nightmares.

Voyeur

The way the L.A. Convention Center was set up, my dressing room had a giant window that looked down onto where all the action was taking place. It played beautifully into my voyeuristic tendencies to be able to see the crowd coming in and getting all hyped listening to the music, staking their positions and getting bigger moment by moment. I felt connected to them before I even hit the stage.

Crowdsurfing

After going through that experience together, the look on my audience's faces as well as my own says it all. Pure elation. Pure adrenaline. And yes, I actually sweat in the shape of a heart.
