Azealia Banks performs her 1991 EP, plus new single "Esta Noche," at MAC Cosmetics during Fashion's Night Out in New York on September 6th, 2012.

Banks told Rolling Stone that her debut lipstick for MAC, "Yung Rapunxel," was inspired by her alter-ego's moxie and her current purple weave. She wore vintage Gaultier and custom Cerre for the occasion, but gave all the credit for her many striking ensembles to her fashion friends, admitting that she "doesn't know how to create a look." St. Vincent

St. Vincent, a/k/a Annie Clark, performs at Rag & Bone during Fashion's Night Out in New York on September 6th, 2012. The party aimed to recreate a Boardwalk Empire-era speakeasy; Clark's raw set included a Brian Eno cover and a stripped-down version of her song "Cruel."

When asked what excites her about Fashion Week, Clark said, "Seeing adorable models, of either gender, running frantically from show to show. That warms my heart. They look so sweet." Decked out in Rag and Bone's Datia knit dress and Phillip Lim's speckled white ankle-strap platforms, she added, "I like to think that someone like Albert Einstein is my fashion icon. He just picked out what he was going to wear every day and he wore it so he didn't have to spend any more brainpower thinking about clothes. I tend to be a little bit like that: I find one thing that I really like and then I wear it until my friends and family tell me it's time." Lauren Musacchio

Chairlift

Chairlift performs at Prada on Broadway during Fashion's Night Out in New York on September 6th, 2012.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, frontwoman Caroline Polachek describes her appreciation for the brand: "I love how awkward and confrontational Prada is. The muted, sometimes 'ugly' colors, the tension that gets set up. I love how adapted it is to real life – even though I'm a huge McQueen fan, I love how Prada is meant to torque and fuck with everyday life. I read somewhere once that Miuccia tells her new interns that 'if you dress for sex, you won't have it.' That kind of sums up how I feel about the sexuality of Prada clothes: the Prada wearer is a challenge. There's sabotage of her prettiness, a playful anti-agenda that requires a real personality to pull off." CN

Three 6 Mafia

In the lawless zone that was Westway during Fashion's Night Out, Supreme got Three 6 Mafia to chug-a-lug through their hits, 27 of them in 45 minutes. The soundtrack was a constant, perfect barrage of trunk-rattling crunk, push-shove music in an establishment so packed one could barely fight and/or breathe. Sweat dripped down the walls; champagne and cheap beer puddled on the floor. Three women bent and dipped and spread behind them, but Juicy J and DJ Paul stayed focused, as much as two half-lidded perma-stoners could.

Juicy asked, "Could we get some ladies up here? I mean, we've already got a couple, but can we get some more?" Some brave souls clambered up, dragging unwilling friends with them. "Leave her alone – she's scared," said Juicy of a blonde girl holding a pretty fancy clutch and her dignity. She ended up onstage, anyway, hugged by two of the Westway dancers. Jeff Rosenthal
