Zac Brown Band Announces Headlining Black Out the Sun Tour

Less than three months after wrapping up their Jekyll + Hyde Tour, Zac Brown Band are looking ahead to another multi-month trek across the U.S.
The Black Out the Sun Tour kicks off May 19th, one month after Brown and company stage their fifth annual Southern Ground Music & Food Festival in Charleston. Like their Jekyll + Hyde run — a headlining tour that stretched throughout the summer, fall and early winter of 2015, with the band playing more than 25 songs a night — the new tour will bring marathon shows to amphitheaters and sports arenas, including two-night stands at Fenway Park in Boston and the Alpine Music Valley Theatre outside of Milwaukee. Drake White, who opened a string of shows during last year’s trek, is back on board as direct support for the entire run.
Taking its cues from the group’s wide-ranging music, Zac Brown Band’s stage show reaches far behind the boundaries of country music, roping in everything from Metallica covers to EDM-inspired light displays. It’s a sound that’s equally indebted to the band’s Georgia roots and their interest in Top 40 radio.
“I’m Southern as can be” Brown told Rolling Stone Country last September, during the final stretch of the Jekyll tour, “but I’m a traveler of the world also. You become bits and pieces of all the places that you visit and spend time. So yes, I am country, but I’m also city when I need to be. I think in finding the line between those two things, the listenership has increased.”
