Willie Nelson Cancels Shows Due to Illness

Country legend postpones upcoming dates in Arizona, New Mexico

UPDATE: On February 14th, Willie Nelson’s son Lukas shared good news on Instagram regarding his father’s health. “Happy to report this Valentine’s Day that dad is feeling great and will be back on the road,” he wrote. “Music and Love are a healing combination.”

Willie Nelson has canceled his upcoming concerts in Sahuarita, Arizona, on Friday, February 10th, and Albuquerque, New Mexico, February 11th due to illness. Organizers at the Desert Diamond Casino and Route 66 Casino, respectively, are working with the legendary entertainer’s camp to reschedule the shows but new dates have yet to be determined. Refunds are available at points of purchase.

The latest cancellations come just two days after Monday’s announcement that a trio of shows at Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, California, on February 6th, 7th and 8th were called off for health reasons. According to his reps, Nelson is still scheduled to appear at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo on February 16th.

The nixed concerts follow a series of shows the Country Music Hall of Fame member played earlier this month in Las Vegas. He also promoted his line of cannabis and cannabis-related products at a January 31st event in Las Vegas, with some 200 marijuana industry employees and representatives raising joints in salute of the performer, actor, activist and businessman, according to the Las Vegas Sun

On April 28th, one day before he celebrates his 84th birthday, Nelson will release his latest album God’s Problem Child, which was produced by Buddy Cannon and features the late Leon Russell on a song.

Nelson is a nominee at the upcoming Grammy Awards this weekend, vying for Best Traditional Pop Vocal album for his tribute to the Gershwin brothers.
