Watch ‘Nashville’ Crank Up Drama in New Midseason Trailer
The midseason premiere of Nashville is set for Thursday, June 1st, with drama unfolding over unanswered questions (who is the father of Scarlett’s baby?), simmering secrets (now that they’re officially a couple, is Zach keeping something hidden from Will?) and the arrival of new characters certain to shake things up for all concerned. Watch the trailer for the midseason premiere above.
As the midseason finale came to a close after some truly heart-wrenching moments as Rayna was laid to rest and Deacon, Maddie, Daphne and the rest of the their family and friends came to terms with the loss, Scarlett left Gunnar speechless with the news of her pregnancy – and the added bombshell that she wasn’t sure whether he or video director Damien was the father. Scarlett and Gunnar, however, have a more threatening situation staring them in the face – namely a bad guy brandishing a gun.
Meanwhile, Deacon, who is working to keep Highway 65 afloat, is about to meet Nashville outsider Alyssa (played by The OC and Hart of Dixie star Rachel Bilson), who is brought on board to rescue the struggling record label. Elsewhere, Maddie and Clay have a run-in with the police, Juliette struggles to regain her physical strength and her career amid the jealousy she’s feeling over Avery and Hallie growing closer.
Other characters who will be introduced in the second half of season five include a homeless girl who’s befriended by Daphne but could turn out to be a terrible influence on her, Empire actress Kaitlin Doubleday as Jessie, who returns to town to reclaim her career and the son who was taken from her, and Jeff Nordling (Big Little Lies, Desperate Housewives), who’ll play recurring character Brad Maitland, described as “an extremely successful, charming, egotistical, narcissistic owner of the most successful record label in Nashville.”
