Lee Brice appeared on Today this morning to perform “Boy,” the lead single from his upcoming self-titled album. The song, penned by Nicolle Galyon and Jon Nite, is rising on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, reaching Number 48 this week.
Backed by his touring band, including pedal steel and organ, Brice delivered the sentimental song while a video montage of children played in the background.
“I knew this song was going to resonate,” Brice told Rolling Stone Country in May. “I had a feeling the first time I heard it. It kills me – every night I sing it about my boys. I think about their health and I think about their futures and I think about my dad and what he must have thought and must have felt growing up, things I didn’t realize then but realize now. All of that stuff piles up into one big emotion when you hear that song.”
Since releasing I Don’t Dance – which included the Platinum-selling title track – in 2014, Brice has busied himself with a side projects and one-off releases like the Jerrod Niemann duet “A Little More Love” and Mixtape: ‘Til Summer’s Gone. His upcoming self-titled record is slated for release on November 3rd.
