Watch Kacey Musgraves Go Glam for ‘New Year’s Eve’ Video

Striking new clip features the singer crooning in front of the hands of time

As the holidays grow closer, Kacey Musgraves debuts a sparkling, retro-inspired video for “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?”

The closing track from her recently released holiday album A Very Kacey Christmas, Musgraves’ cover of the 1947 Frank Loesser song – first made famous by mid-century R&B group the Orioles – is simple and affecting, and the new video, which shows a glammed-up Musgraves crooning in front of a large clock, suits the song’s somber mood.

“Just a little eye candy celebrating 1 of the most glittery yet melancholy parts of the year,” she tweeted in advance of sharing the Shane Drake-directed clip.

Musgraves has been on the road in support of the album, as well as making the rounds on late-night television. She also already has New Year’s Eve plans of her own: joining Jason Isbell and John Prine for a special show at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House.
