Watch Cole Swindell Get Dumped in ‘Middle of a Memory’ Video

Country singer takes a gamble on love and loses in track from chart-topping ‘You Should Be Here’ album

Cole Swindell’s new video for the tough-luck heart-breaker, “Middle of a Memory” finds him meeting the seemingly perfect girl only to lose her at the worst possible moment.

Directed by Michael Monaco, the new clip is a pretty standard illustration of the story Swindell’s singing — which he co-wrote with Zach Crowell and Ashley Gorley. Hanging out at a house party, the singer hits it off with the country-chic blonde of his dreams, and a whole relationship worth of memory making ensues.

They go shopping and celebrate birthdays, play catch at the park and attend Halloween parties — and even have a baseball date night at a Nashville Sounds game where they meet Booster the Hot Chicken — but then one night, Swindell comes home to find his plans for the future upended.

Just a note and a key are left to explain an empty apartment, as Swindell’s girl is already long gone, cruising through the countryside with tears in her eyes at the infuriating pace of 40 mph. The real heartbreak is still to come, though, when we learn Swindell was hoping to propose that very night.

The follow up to his gold-certified “You Should Be Here,” “Middle of a Memory” is the second single from Swindell’s sophomore album and currently sits inside the Top 20 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. He’s out on the road this summer on Florida Georgia Line’s Dig Your Roots tour, then starts his headlining Down Home Tour this fall. Swindell’s third EP of bonus material, Down Home Sessions III, will be out in October.
