Out of the flickering embers of a dying relationship, rising newcomer Cam and award-winning director Trey Fanjoy have created a heartbreaking music video for the singer’s red-hot hit “Burning House.” Dressed in a flowing white wedding gown, the singer enters the flaming structure and recalls a ghostly party scene that includes the ex-boyfriend who inspired the real-life dream about a particularly bad break-up.
“It’s a really vulnerable song because it comes from a real place. I didn’t handle the end of a relationship very well. I wanted to apologize for that. It was like guilt around it,” Cam tells Rolling Stone Country. “It’s a tough song, because there is no Disney movie for when you love someone a lot and they’re almost perfect, but they’re not. They’re not a villain, but they’re not Prince Charming. So what do you do with all that love? It comes out in crazy dreams of burning houses.”
Cam is currently sharing the bill with David Nail on Darius Rucker’s Southern Style Tour. The tour will play Syracuse, New York, on Thursday, October 22nd.
