Toby Keith to Revisit First Hit on Should’ve Been a Cowboy XXV Tour

Toby Keith will celebrate the 25th anniversary of his first hit with this summer’s aptly-titled Should’ve Been a Cowboy XXV Tour.
With 20 dates currently on the itinerary, Keith’s Should’ve Been a Cowboy XXV Tour will kick off April 6th in Salt Lake City and is scheduled to wrap September 15th in Puyallup, Washington, although more shows are expected to be announced soon. Along the way, the Oklahoma hit maker will journey across the country to visit arenas, casinos, festivals, state fairs and more.
Written solo by Keith and inspired by an offhand comment in a bar – his friend was turned down for a dance by a woman who later said “yes” to a man dressed in western wear – “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” was released as Keith’s debut single in 1993. Filled with lighthearted nostalgia for the long-gone days of the Wild West, the song launched Keith’s career as a Gold-certified Number One and was eventually named the most-played song of the 1990s on country radio.
Keith’s most-recent release was the 2017 compilation album The Bus Songs, and he has been credited as a songwriter on pop superstar Justin Timberlake’s new album Man of the Woods for the song “Sauce.”
