Toby Keith Delivers ‘Pick-Up Lines’ on Summer Tour

One of country music’s most reliable touring acts has once again plotted a summer trek. Toby Keith will launch the Good Times & Pick-Up Lines Tour on May 29th at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California. Twenty-nine dates are already plotted, with more to be announced soon.
Keith, whose “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)” was named one of Rolling Stone Country‘s 20 Best Revenge Songs, is touring in support of his upcoming album 35 MPH Town. The album’s first single, “Drunk Americans,” written by Brandy Clark, Shane McAnally and Bob DiPiero, is currently Number 27 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. A country cousin to Billy Joel’s “Piano Man,” “Drunk Americans” is a bit of all-are-welcome social commentary. “I’ve always loved that song and felt like it was so Toby. I’m so glad he put it out,” Clark recently told Rolling Stone Country. “The message is maybe we’re enemies or this or that, but in the bar we’re all drunk Americans.”
In addition to his latest tour announcement, Keith is currently celebrating another milestone. It was announced today that he will be one of the inductees joining the Songwriters Hall of Fame during the event’s 46th Annual Induction and Awards Dinner. Keith will be inducted alongside writers like Bobby Braddock (who wrote George Jones’ “He Stopped Loving Her Today”), Cyndi Lauper, and Robert Hunter and Jerry Garcia. The ceremony will be held June 18th in New York City. But Keith won’t linger in the Big Apple for long — he’s scheduled to play Vineland, Colorado, the next day.
