Tim McGraw on Keeping It Cool With Daughter’s Duet: The Ram Report

Country singer admits he “sheepisly” asked his 18-year-old daughter to sing on new LP

Tim McGraw’s cousin, Catherine Dunn made her big label recording debut singing with him on “Diamond Rings and Old Barstools,” from his Sundown Heaven Town album. Now, it’s his oldest daughter’s turn.

Gracie McGraw is featured on the opening track of her dad’s upcoming Damn Country Music LP. The 18-year-old budding singer harmonizes on the anthemic “Here Tonight.”

“I didn’t really plan on her singing on the record. I recorded that song and the whole time I was recording, I had this suspicion that her voice would sound really cool on it,” McGraw tells Rolling Stone Country. “The most nerve wracking part of it was actually asking her to do it. She’s pretty cool, and Dad’s decidedly uncool. So I was scared she’d say no. So instead of playing it for her and asking her to her face, I sent it to her through email and told her to listen to it. . . She said she liked it, so I sheepishly asked her to sing on it.”

Damn Country Music hits stores November 6th. Come back to Rolling Stone Country this Thursday, October 29th for our full interview with the country megastar.
