Country superstar Tim McGraw and hip-hop mogul Kanye West have been named as performers at this year’s Time 100 Gala, taking place April 21st at New York City’s Jazz at the Lincoln Center. The glitzy event will celebrate the magazine’s annual list of the most influential people, whom it says are chosen for changing the world. This year’s crop was also deemed to be filled with “people who could speak to their subject’s influence in all its dimensions.”
McGraw and West are both on the list of this year’s movers and shakers, and West is even one of five honorees to be placed on the magazine’s iconic cover. McGraw falls into the artists’ category of the list, which also includes director Christopher Nolan, actress Julianne Moore and comedian Kevin Hart. Others on the influential list include Pope Francis, President Obama, Serial podcaster Sarah Koenig, Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian.
Citing McGraw’s moving Oscar tribute to Glen Campbell, his upcoming movie with George Clooney (Tomorrowland) and a 36-city arena tour that kicks off in June, Time contributing editor Jon Meacham explained the country star’s inclusion on the list.

“He moves between genres with the same down-to-earth grace that’s always on display at the Nashville high school football games he never misses,” says Meacham. “McGraw’s a kind of Renaissance man in a cowboy hat, and it’s clear he’s got a lot of life left to live and art still to make — good news for the rest of us.”
Other artists and entertainers attending the event include comedian Amy Schumer, Orange Is the New Black’s Laverne Cox, The Good Wife’s Julianna Margulies and Last Week Tonight host John Oliver, among many more.
