Thomas Rhett Talks Maren Morris Duet, Outnumber Hunger Campaign

ACM’s reigning Male Vocalist of the Year admits it’s difficult to perform a love song with someone other than his wife

At this weekend’s ACM Awards, Thomas Rhett and Maren Morris gave the live debut of their steamy new collaboration “Craving You.” The song is the first taste of Rhett’s new album, but the happily married man admits it’s a song that may be a little awkward to sing to a woman that isn’t his wife Lauren.

The “Die a Happy Man” singer, who pulled off a surprise win as Male Vocalist of the Year at the April 2nd ACMs, and also won Song of the Year, spoke with Rolling Stone Country about how Morris came to appear on the duet, and how the two artists navigated the trickiness of a passionate performance.

In addition to the ACM Awards, Rhett was also in Las Vegas for a good cause: the Outnumber Hunger campaign, which helps spread awareness about hunger in the United States. The initiative, launched in 2011, has enlisted Rhett as the literal face of this year’s campaign – his likeness appears on specially-marked boxes of General Mills cereal.
