With “Die a Happy Man,” Thomas Rhett has the first Number One song of 2016. The ballad tops the Billboard Country Airplay chart for a third week.
The second single off Rhett’s second album Tangled Up, it also stands as his fifth consecutive Number One, following the Bruno Mars-influenced “Crash and Burn.” “Die a Happy Man” was written by Rhett as a love letter to his wife, and the couple filmed the video together while on vacation in Hawaii.
“That is the most honest song I’ve ever written about my wife,” Rhett told Rolling Stone Country. “It really replicates our relationship with each other and our love for each other, so I think it will be really fun and exciting for people to see that side of me, because I’ve never really done that before.”
Following a well-received trek with Brett Eldredge, Rhett will hit the road this month with Jason Aldean on Aldean’s headlining We Were Here Tour. Their first show together is January 14th in Illinois.
