Tortuga Music Festival headliners Kenny Chesney and Zac Brown Band had better pack a bigger beach blanket. The two acts will be getting some company at the third annual festival, held April 11th and 12th on the beach in Fort Lauderdale, as the Band Perry, Josh Turner and Will Hoge have been announced as part of the lineup.
Not only a concert, but an effort to raise awareness for ocean conservation, Tortuga boasts an eclectic array of artists. Along with radio-country acts like Jake Owen, Little Big Town, David Nail and Frankie Ballard, the festival includes genre-crossers the Mavericks, rapper Colt Ford, bluegrass group Judah & the Lion and California ska-punkers Sublime (with Rome Ramirez on vocals, subbing for the late Brad Nowell). Presented with assistance from the Rock the Ocean Foundation, the event has raised more than $100,000 for ocean and marine life research.
The addition of the Band Perry, who are currently looking for new talent as part of the Grammy Amplifier contest, lends an extra dose of dramatic pop to Tortuga, while Josh Turner, with current single “Lay Low,” represents trad-country and Will Hoge, who will release a new album in the spring, furthers the singer-songwriter element of the two-day blowout. Other names already announced include Sam Hunt, Maddie & Tae, the Cadillac Three, Trace Adkins and Chase Bryant.
Tickets for the Tortuga Music Festival are currently on sale.
