The Avett Brothers recently announced that the fourth installment in their live album series, Live, Vol. 4, will be out December 18th, but that won’t be the only way to hear the band of banjo brothers in the new year. In April, the folk collective led by Scott and Seth Avett will launch their 2016 Spring Tour, making stops at New York’s Madison Square Garden and Los Angeles’ Greek Theater.

Known for their live performances that blend bluegrass roots with the fierce fire of a rock show and an emotional, near-gospel spirit, The Avett Brothers are no strangers to major venues: this past summer, they sold out three nights at Colorado’s legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater. They’re also a staple on the festival circuit, frequenting the likes of Bonnaroo and Shakey Knees. This is their first time playing the classic touchstone of tour success, Madison Square Garden.

Live, Vol. 4 captures the brothers in their home state of North Carolina on New Year’s Eve in 2014 and includes two new tracks, “Satan Pulls the Strings” and “Rejects in the Attic,” both of which seem likely candidates for the 2016 Spring Tour set list and possibly the Avett Brothers’ ninth studio album.

Joining the Avett Brothers for select appearances will be Brandi Carlile, Brett Dennen and Milk Carton Kids.
