Taylor Swift Hints at ‘Never Ever’ Grammys Opener

Taylor Swift will likely kick off this Sunday’s Grammys telecast with her Record of the Year-nominated song “We Are Never Ever Getting Together,” the singer hinted to Ryan Seacrest this week. “I think you should perform the song that’s nominated,” said Swift. “Like, if you got a song nominated for Record of the Year, you might as well perform that. It’s a big hint.”

The singer, nominated for three awards at the 55th Grammys, noted that her pole position was unexpected and that the performance had been in the works for some time. “A week ago they call us and they’re like ‘Oh, by the way you’re opening the show,'” said Swift. “So it’s not like they approach you and say, ‘Listen, let’s do a big opening performance thing,’ it just kind of surprised me that I was gonna go first. But I’m really, really excited about it.”
Swift also said that the next single off last year’s Red will be “22.” “I wrote that about my friends, like, finally I’ve got this amazing group of girlfriends and we tell each other everything, we’re together all the time. ” she said. ” And I think that was kind of the marker of me being 22, like having all these friends and there’s all these question marks in your life, but the one thing that you have is that you have each other.”
Other performers at the Grammys this Sunday include Jack White, Elton John, Mumford & Sons, Rihanna, Sting, the Black Keys with Dr. John, Tom Morello and more.
