Tammy Wynette Hologram to Perform in Nashville Stage Show
Tammy Wynette will join the growing ranks of deceased celebrities posthumously performing live as a virtual version of the First Lady of Country Music will appear in a Nashville stage show in early 2016. The “Stand By Your Man” singer isn’t the first country icon to be recreated by Hologram USA: The company previously announced that Patsy Cline would also get her own interactive concert in 2016.
“It’s an honor to celebrate America’s musical heritage by introducing the artistry of Tammy Wynette to new audiences,” Hologram USA CEO Alki David said in a statement. “We are creating a full length show involving both songs and stories from her life and truly authentic performances.” Wynette passed away in 1998.
Like Hologram USA’s planned virtual concerts for Whitney Houston, Andy Kaufman, Liberace, Redd Foxx and Buddy Holly, the performances will weave together each artist’s classic music or sketches with biographical elements from their lives. In Wynette’s case, her hologram concert will likely focus on her nearly 20 Number One country singles – like “Stand By Your Man,” “D-I-V-O-R-C-E” and “The Ways to Love a Man” – as well as her marriage to fellow country legend George Jones.
The announcement of the Wynette hologram comes on the same day as the 49th annual CMA Awards, and like the 2014 ceremony, Jimmy Kimmel will once again be beamed from his Los Angeles studio to the Nashville awards via hologram. Similarly, the Band Perry, who will be at the Nashville ceremony Wednesday night, will perform live as holograms on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
