Sundy Best Channel ‘Poltergeist,’ Jesco White in Retro New Video
Their songs may boast some of the most mature lyrics to come out of Nashville of late, but rising duo Sundy Best — one of Rolling Stone Country‘s Artists You Need to Know — aren’t above acting goofy when it comes to their music videos. Their retro-looking new video for single “Lotta Love” is low budget but high fun.
Settled on a couch straight out of the Beavis and Butt-head line, percussionist Kris Bentley goes full-on redneck in oversized glasses, a flannel shirt and a trucker hat, while his equally game costar rocks a mean set of curlers in her hair. With TV dinners on a tray and a framed photo of the patron saint of racing Dale Earnhardt looking down on them, the happy couple rock out to the new video by — who else? — Sundy Best. And even that video-within-a-video turns up the cheese factor, with singer-guitarist Nick Jamerson in a baggy pair of jeans and his own supersized shades.
The payoff, however, comes when Bentley —who showed off some fancy footwork in the video for “Until I Met You” — is sucked inside the tube while fiddling with the rabbit ears. Bad dancing ensues — it’s like Poltergeist meets Jesco White.
The Lexington, Kentucky, twosome have been enjoying a hot streak of late, having recently performed a capacity gig at Nashville’s storied Exit/In and receiving a Twitter shout-out from Jake Owen, who called Sundy Best “one of my favorite new bands.” The group is also set to perform as part of CMT’s Listen Up franchise on October 30th. In between tour dates, Jamerson and Bentley have been recording the follow-up to this year’s Bring Up the Sun, one of Rolling Stone Country‘s 26 Albums You Need to Hear, in Nashville.
