It’s barely one week into the year, but it’s already time to start thinking about summer festival season with Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival announcing its 2018 lineup Tuesday morning. Among the 150 artists scheduled to descend upon Manchester, Tennessee, for the annual gathering taking place June 7th through 10th are numerous country and Americana performers.
Sturgill Simpson takes top billing in the roots and country world, reprising his much-lauded 2015 performance at That Tent. Scheduling information has not been announced yet, but Simpson’s spot near the top of this year’s lineup poster indicates that he’ll be performing on a larger stage this time around.
Other roots and Americana favorites slated to perform include Old Crow Medicine Show, the Revivalists, First Aid Kid, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Mavis Staples, the Texas Gentlemen, Larkin Poe and Jade Bird.
On the more country-leaning side of the equation, Brothers Osborne, Tyler Childers and Midland round out the lineup. Brothers Osborne are expected to release a new album this year, so it’s likely the duo will have plenty of new tunes to perform come June. 2018 will mark “Drinkin’ Problem” trio Midland’s first apperance at Bonnaroo.
Another intriguing entry in the lineup reads, simply, “Grand Ole Opry.” The beloved country music radio institution confirmed plans to host its first-ever show at Bonnaroo, with performers to be revealed in the coming weeks.
Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, featuring headliners Eminem, the Killers and Muse, gets underway June 7th in Manchester, Tennessee. Tickets go on sale January 12th at 10:00 a.m. ET.
