Shelby Lynne Launches 2018 Solo Tour
Shelby Lynne, who toured in the latter half of 2017 with her sister, Allison Moorer, returns to the road on a solo trek beginning Friday, February 23rd, in
While Lynne’s recorded output stretches back 30 years – her first charted single was a duet with George Jones released in September 1988 – she and Moorer, who is three years younger, released their first LP as a duo last summer. Not Dark Yet, produced by Teddy Thompson, contained the pair’s soulful takes on songs originally recorded by Nirvana, Bob Dylan, Merle Haggard, Jason Isbell and Amada Shires, and more. The record closed with “Is It Too Much,” a song Lynne had nearly completely before the pair decided to work on it together.
“When I was inspired to do it, I was thinking all about her,” Lynne told Rolling Stone Country. “The lives we lived, where we live and work, the choices we make, the things that we don’t have control of, the things that we’ve never had control of. When I look at her and we sing together, I love her so much that I just was moved to write something that I knew she would understand.”
Lynne’s most recent solo album, I Can’t Imagine, was released in 2015.
