See Steven Tyler Take the Blame With ‘Worst Enemy’ on ‘Seth Meyers’

On “My Own Worst Enemy,” the lead-off track of his debut solo album We’re All Somebody From Somewhere, Steven Tyler runs through a laundry list of deities, booze and assorted vices he can blame for his lady leaving him. But by the time he finishes the first chorus, he knows the root of the problem: “I’m all alone tongue-tied and twisted / as I say, ‘It ain’t you, it’s me.'”

The Aerosmith singer, who relocated to Nashville to probe his country-music roots, performed “My Own Worst Enemy” last night on Late Night With Seth Meyers. Backed by the band Loving Mary, Tyler evoked the best of his other group’s most famous ballads, from the vocal runs of “Cryin'” to the piano breakdown of “Dream On,” with Tyler leaving his mic to take a seat behind a white baby grand for the conclusion of “Worst Enemy.”

Prior to the performance, the frontman – and his two dogs, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid – sat with Meyers for an interview, in which he discussed his connection to country music via the melodies of the Everly Brothers. He also said he’s looking forward to Aerosmith’s upcoming dates – the band kicks off a South American tour later this month.

The Loving Mary Band, meanwhile, will release their own album, Little Bit of Love, on October 28th. They’ll back up Tyler tonight at a Philadelphia stop of his Out on a Limb Tour.
