Singer-songwriter-guitarist exudes optimism in “Still Believe in Crazy Love” from ‘Deconstructed Studio Sessions’ EP

While the debate about streaming music payments continues, a flock of young country artists are figuring out that issuing an EP on Spotify can be a pretty smart promotional tool in lieu of immediate radio support. Add to this growing list singer-songwriter-guitarist Ryan Kinder, whose Deconstructed Studio Sessions was issued on April 29th.

In addition to Kinder’s official debut single “Tonight,” the DSS EP includes the Birmingham, Alabama native’s blues-rock cover of Justin Bieber’s 2015 smash “Sorry” as well as the moody “Still Believe in Crazy Love,” the studio-based video for which appears above. Constructed around a fluid electric guitar line that mimics the verse melody, “Still Believe” exudes a hard-won optimism. “I’ve known heartache and I’ve known lonely,” sings Kinder in a gravelly tenor, listing the many pitfalls of modern-day coupling. Undeterred by these setbacks, though, he continues his search for love: “I also know my faith and in weakness there is strength so I tell myself there’s no giving up,” he proclaims, triumphant and hopeful.

Kinder’s self-taught guitar skills brought him to the stage early, and he was playing in bars and clubs by the time he was 16 years old. While in college at the University of Alabama, he continued gigging as much as possible and drove to Nashville every week for writing appointments. He has shared the stage with Zac Brown Band and recently supported Jennifer Nettles and Brandy Clark on the Playing With Fire Tour. Currently, he is working on his full-length album for Warner Bros. Records with producer Paul Worley (Lady Antebellum, Dixie Chicks).
