See Parker Millsap’s Whimsical ‘Pining’ Video
Parker Millsap must be somewhat aware of his classic movie star looks, because his new video for “Pining” casts the singer-songwriter as the archetypal leading man.
Directed by Matt Bizer, the clip features the Oklahoma-born Millsap playing a variety of roles in front of a green screen. He’s riding a motorcycle through the mountains, he’s cruising down the open road in a convertible, and he’s braving the stormy seas in a tiny sailboat — all with a winking, whimsical air that suggests maybe such determined heroes don’t exist in real life. Still, it fits nicely with the song, which pairs a Bo Diddley rhythm to Millsap’s lines about the limitlessness of his love for this person. And sure enough, like a movie hero, he gets the girl at the end.
Millsap was recently dealt a lousy blow when his touring van was stolen near Minneapolis with his band’s gear inside. The van was recovered, but the hunt for his gear continues. In happier news, The Very Last Day recently earned Millsap an Americana Awards nomination for Album of the Year.
