See Old 97’s Argue With Fred Armisen in Satirical ‘Good With God’ Video

‘Portlandia’ star joins Texas band, ‘Office’ actress Jenna Fischer for ‘120 Minutes’ spoof

The Old 97’s released their new album Graveyard Whistling today, and to celebrate the Texas band shared a music video for “Good with God” that features a couple well-known guests.

Portlandia star and Saturday Night Live alum Fred Armisen makes an appearance, portraying a fill-in drummer for a segment the band is purportedly taping for the fictional show An Hour and 60 Minutes, which parodies MTV’s now-defunct 120 Minutes.

Jenna Fischer, known for her portrayal of Pam on the NBC sitcom The Office, plays the host of this imaginary show, attempting to interview the band amid frequent interruptions from Armisen. “I was just trying to be, like, a band member, so that it seems like I’m part of the band,” Armisen argues, when the rest of the band asks him to pipe down. (Spoiler alert: he never does.)

When frontman Rhett Miller and the rest of the band do finally perform “Good with God,” Armisen sits in on drums. The video was live-tracked, so Armisen – who played drums in punk band Trenchmouth prior to his SNL tenure – gets to show off his musical talent in addition to his comedic skills. Real-life Old 97’s drummer Phillip Peeples wasn’t available to participate in the video due to a back injury.

The studio version of “Good with God” features Brandi Carlile in duet with Miller. The band recently performed “Good with God” on Late Night with Seth Myers, tapping Nashville outlaw Nikki Lane to perform in Carlile’s place.

The band kicks off a string United States tour dates on February 25th in Ponte Vedra, Florida.
