See Meghan Linsey’s Trippy Pop-Culture Homage ‘Exes and Friends’
Meghan Linsey’s new R&B-laced single “Exes and Friends” doesn’t sound like much else in country right now, so it’s appropriate then that her brand new video for the track doesn’t look all that country either. But it’s not because of any fancy special effects, however. Instead, it’s the clip’s pop-culture guests –Instagram star dog Doug the Pug and infamous Bachelor bad guy Juan Pablo Galavis.
Apparently, the beloved little fur ball Doug with more than 5 million Facebook likes is a friend of Linsey’s dog, and shows up in the very beginning of the clip. Then Linsey and her wild wardrobe – including three eye-popping, skin-tight jumpsuits – take over, along with arguably the most hated (and memorable) dating show contestant in history: Juan Pablo.
Directed by Zachary Halley and Bridget Berger, the video follows Linsey and her fictional former beau Juan Pablo as they end up at the same party and try to navigate the awkward first post-breakup meeting.
Full of sassy, tough-girl vocals that swell, yell and sometimes recall the gritty badassery of Amy Winehouse, “Exes and Friends” was co-written by Linsey with Tyler Cain and Julie Moriva. The singer is currently touring the West Coast, with shows in Montana, Washington, Oregon and California lined up until December 10th.
