Duo sings “After the Storm Blows Through” at emotional fundraising event for Pulse nightclub victims and families

“I’m gonna try to get through this song without tearing up,” singer Maddie Marlow told the audience gathered at the Country Strong benefit held Tuesday in Orlando. “I can’t even imagine what you’re going through, but I feel for y’all, and we’ve been sending so many prayers to you guys.”

The duo then performed the uplifting “After the Storm Blows Through,” from their album Start Here. Inspired by friend who was enduring some turbulent times, the song offers shelter and comfort to someone in a dark place, pledging to face the struggle together. Though it was just two voices backed with one acoustic guitar in Orlando, the crowd — still reeling from the violent massacre that hit their city’s Pulse nightclub a few days earlier — mostly watched in silence.

The event, titled Country Strong – Orlando’s Night of Healing and Country Music, was organized by local country station K92.3 to raise funds for families and victims of the June 12th Pulse nightclub shooting. Proceeds from sales went to the OneOrlando Fund and its assistance with Hispanic, LGBT and faith-related charities. Other artists who participated included Billy Currington, Easton Corbin, Cole Swindell, Michael Ray, Jerrod Niemann and Canaan Smith.
