Luke Bryan and Jimmy Fallon pitted themselves against actors Octavia Spencer and John Lithgow in a fierce game of Catchphrase on last night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Bryan also gave the late-night debut of his new single “Fast.”

Feeling a tad unprepared, Bryan kicked off the game by quipping, “I appreciate you getting world-class actors in here to compete against [me].” Casting any insecurities aside, though, Bryan’s first clue fittingly has him belt out a sonorous chest note that allowed his teammate to quickly guess “Opera!” After breezing through the first two rounds (thanks to a spot-on impression of Scooby-Doo), Bryan stumbled on the phrase “Off the Record,” ultimately blowing the game for the duo. “After minutes of flawless execution!” he lamented, the irony clearly not lost on him of fumbling a phrase with which he should be familiar.

Later in the show, Bryan played his latest Kill the Lights single “Fast,” trading his standard hip-swaying and high-energy performance style for mellow, bluesy backing and subdued lighting. (Watch the clip below.)

On Wednesday night, Bryan played a sold-out show at New York City’s Madison Square Garden that included openers Brett Eldredge and Brett Young. The Kill the Lights Tour wraps up this month with a two-night stand at Gulf Shores/Orange Beach, Alabama, outdoor arena The Wharf on March 17th and 18th. On April 2nd, Bryan will reunite with Dierks Bentley to once again host the Academy of Country Music Awards, where’s he’s also up for Entertainer of the Year. And on May 5th, Bryan will commence his sprawling Huntin’, Fishin’, and Lovin’ Every Day Tour at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
