See Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, Joe Walsh’s Chuck Berry Tribute at ACMs
He may be credited as a founding father of rock & roll but the recently departed Chuck Berry was both a profound influence on and deeply influenced by country music.
So it seemed fitting for the ACM Awards to tip a cap to the Brown-Eyed Handsome Man at the top of the show Sunday night in Las Vegas. Co-hosts Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley were joined by Eagles guitar hero Joe Walsh for a rip-roaring run through Berry’s best known classic “Johnny B. Goode.” While Bryan and Bentley handled the verses, Walsh laid down a fast and dirty solo that the legendary rock icon would’ve likely appreciated, as the crowd in the T-Mobile Arena danced to the zippy riffage and sang, “Go, Johnny go!”
Between delivering the jokes as co-hosts, Bentley and Bryan also took the stage as solo performers, with Bentley singing current single “Black” and Bryan delivering the poignant “Fast.”
