Santa Claus is a pretty popular guy this time of year, although Loretta Lynn may disagree. The iconic artist just shared an acoustic performance of “To Heck With Ole Santa Claus,” a humorous track from her new holiday album White Christmas Blue. Watch the performance above.
Originally released on Lynn’s 1966 holiday album Country Christmas, the song rakes Santa across his own coals with lyrics like “When he goes dashing through the snow, I hope he falls.” Lynn deftly delivers the tongue-in-cheek tune with a slight smile while seated in front of festive backdrop and accompanied by John Carter Cash on guitar.
In other Lynn news, the singer revealed that she had recently tried marijuana to treat glaucoma, and that things did not go well. “I took one little [hit] off of that thing,” she said at a SiriusXM event promoting White Christmas Blue. “It hit me in the chest and I thought, ‘My God, I’m gonna die.’ I ain’t smokin’ anymore. So I decided if you either go blind or smoke marijuana, I’ll just go blind.”
Earlier this month, Lynn earned a Best Country Album Grammy nomination for Full Circle, her most recent studio release.
