See Little Big Town Cover Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream’ at Grammys

Vocal quartet reprises 2010 hit before Perry’s performance of “Chained to the Rhythm”

Little Big Town gave Katy Perry a special introduction at the Grammy Awards, singing a portion of the pop star’s 2010 smash “Teenage Dream” before turning the stage over to Perry herself.

The Grammy-winning vocal group performed a stripped-down acoustic version of the pop hit, which was the second single off Perry’s album of the same name. It hit Number One on Billboard‘s Hot 100, and the album became only the second in history to produce five number one hits.

Perry performed her new single “Chained to the Rhythm,” which she released on Friday following an elaborate, worldwide marketing campaign. Her performance nodded to the song’s political lyrics, with Perry donning a white pantsuit reminiscent of Hillary Clinton and sporting an armband that read, “Persist,” in apparent homage to senator Elizabeth Warren.

Later in the broadcast, Little Big Town took the stage again to honor the 40th anniversary of the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, joined by Demi Lovato, Tori Kelly and Andra Day. They will also be part of a tribute concert, Stayin’ Alive: A Grammy Salute to the Music of the Bee Gees, on February 14th.

Little Big Town have won two Grammy awards, a 2012 Best Country/Duo Performance trophy for “Pontoon” and a 2015 win in the same category for “Girl Crush.” On Friday, they released a new song, “We Went to the Beach,” from their forthcoming album The Breaker, which comes out February 24th.
