See Lauren Alaina Cover Alicia Keys’ ‘Fallin” on Helium
It’s hard to find a song that doesn’t sound comical when sung after ingesting helium. Lauren Alaina irrefutably proved this dictum during a recent appearance on The Bobby Bones Show.
The 2011 American Idol runner up performed Alicia Keys’ passionate love ballad, “Fallin'” between hits of helium from balloon after balloon. Restraining laughter at the understandably ludicrous situation, Alaina did a remarkable job of delivering Keys’ 2001 breakthrough single reasonably intact.
Singing on helium never gets old. Last year, Ariana Grande and Lea Michele released an Instagram video singing the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe” on helium, while Luke Bryan stopped by The Bobby Bones Show last year to sing “That’s My Kind of Night” while under the influence of the voice-altering gas.
Alaina’s current single, “Road Less Traveled” continues to climb Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. The 21-year-old singer appeared on NBC’s Today show last week to perform the emotional song she penned with Jesse Frasure and Meghan Trainor. Produced by busbee solely on programmed instruments, the song was influenced by issues Alaina was tackling, including her parents’ divorce and her battle with bulimia, along with her desire to make something positive from the painful experiences. “I want that to be my overall message — that we just need to love each other,” she told Rolling Stone Country this summer. “No matter where you’re from, what you’ve done, who you are, what your family’s done, you cannot be healthy without love.”
Alaina shot a video for the song last week. Her second full-length album for Mercury Nashville is expected to come out later this year or early 2017.
