The black-and-white clip follows a pair of lovers sharing a hot-blooded Hollywood getaway, basking in the glow of a time when all that mattered was love. When the track was revealed in July, Chesney described the theme as “That rush of realizing there’s something going on here, you’re really clicking with someone, or even just one of those perfect nights with your friends,” and his chosen treatment brings that story to life.
Chesney and Pink never actually show up in the video – only on billboards scattered around the city – while the young couple stays wrapped up in the best days of their lives, exploring and flirting just off the Sunset Strip, cruising up the coast for tender beachside afternoons and falling into each other’s arms back at the hotel. Memories come flooding back as the romantic urgency builds, finally boiling over in each chorus as Pink delivers the anthem’s head-over-heels hook.
Co-written by Ross Copperman, Matt Jenkins and Josh Osborne, “Setting the World on Fire” is set to appear on Cosmic Hallelujah, Chesney’s upcoming album, due October 28th.
