Kelsea Ballerini made a return trip to Good Morning America earlier today (August 19th) to perform as part of the show’s Summer Concert series. Ballerini’s song selections consisted of her first Number One “Love Me Like You Mean It” and “Peter Pan,” which is currently a top 5 hit on country radio.
Before she sang, Ballerini chatted with host Robin Roberts and noted that she’d made several trips to visit with the show.
“It’s my fourth time being here,” she said. “I’m like the house band!”
“We love that,” said Roberts. “She can be our house band!”
Written by Ballerini with Forest Glen Whitehead and Jesse Lee, “Peter Pan” makes a fine showcase for Ballerini’s voice with its sustained notes and soaring chorus. On GMA, she emphasizes the quiet/loud aspects of it, singing in a hushed whisper one minute and then unleashing the rougher texture of her full voice when the band joins her.
Ballerini is currently supporting Rascal Flatts’ Rhythm & Roots tour through mid-September. In October, she’ll launch her first headlining trek, named The First Time tour after her debut album.
