See Jon Pardi’s Throwback ‘Head Over Boots’ Video
Jon Pardi leads a honky-tonk house band in the new music video for “Head Over Boots,” a retro clip that finds the singer dishing up the soundtrack to a fast-moving romance between one of his bandmates and a girl in the audience.
The video opens up with an elderly man feeding quarters into a jukebox, then slow dancing with his wife across an empty barroom floor as “Head Over Boots” begins to play. What follows is a highlights reel of the couple’s life together: their initial meeting before an old-school country show, their tentative first kiss behind a barn, a date spent bonding over a truck’s busted engine and, ultimately, a proposal during another country gig. Throughout it all, Pardi fronts a band whose changing outfits — from a matching set of cowboy shirts worthy of Hank Williams’ Drifting Cowboys to an assortment of cringe-worthy vests, aviators and fringed leather jackets that bring to mind an old-school Hank Williams Jr. video — help mark the changing decades.
Co-written by Pardi and Luke Laird, “Head Over Boots” is the first release from the singer’s upcoming sophomore release, California Sunrise, due out June 17th.
